After training with Jeff Kunze (a 3rd degree Black Belt under Rigan Machado) for many years and received Blue, Purple and Brown Belts from him, Angel started training at Unified BJJ, a Pedro Sauer School, with John Carlquist as the head professor. Because of a 4 years move to Spain, Angel was part of the Mathias Ribeiro Team (Alliance). Now back to Utah, Angel received his Faixa Preta (Black Belt) from John Carlquist on August 19th, 2017.
Angel started JUDO at 4 years old in Spain, in 1985. He has practice this art for 25+ years and is now a black belt under the USA Judo Federation.
He has won numerous BJJ and JUDO competitions, among which are the IBJJF Master's Worlds (Bronze), IBJJF Pan Ams (Bronze), several Utah State Championships for both BJJ and JUDO, Spanish National (IBJJF), San Diego Open (IBJJF), Las Vegas Open (IBJJF), Grapplers Quest, NAGA and others. He often competes in Pan-Ams and Worlds for the IBJJF.
